CGH Collects Coats for the Homeless
For immediate release: November 30, 2015
Washington, DC
In the month of November, CGH participated in Gifts for the Homeless’ Coat Drive. One weekend every year, Gifts for the Homeless (GFTH) takes donations of gently used clothing that are most needed or requested through the homeless shelters in the DC area. This year, CGH donated almost one dozen coats, as well as other winter accessories, which were delivered to GFTH on the 4th of December. This is CGH’s fourth year participating in the coat drive.
Though homeless in DC has decreased 2.7 percent from 2014 to 2015, according to the analysis compiled by The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ Homeless Services Planning and Coordinating Committee, there are still approximately 12,000 people who are officially classified as homeless, and others who live in shelters or other supportive housing. CGH is proud to have helped provide these people with the small comfort of warmth in the winter.
